The past few months have been a whirlwind of life and professional transitions, but I now finally have a moment to post an important update! It is with immense pleasure that I share two pieces of exciting news:
- I have graduated and successfully filed my dissertation at UC Berkeley, under the tutelage of the greatest advisors – Professors Karl A. Britto (chair, pictured above), Debarati Sanyal, and Khatharya Um. I am truly so grateful for much more than the erudition they have generously shared with me over the years, but also their unwavering support and immeasurable patience and compassion. They equipped me with a conceptual toolbox, and trusted me to handle it and my corpus with care while broadening my outlooks and honing my particular approaches. Their willingness to attentively engage with even my most jumbled thoughts, their openness toward unorthodox ideas, and their words of encouragement at my lowest points created a caring environment for me to figure out my voice, what I had to say, and how to write it. I feel so lucky to have had their support as the foundation for the next chapter of my career.
- That said, as of July 1, 2026, I have officially begun my new appointment as Scholar-in-Residence in Romance Languages and Literatures at Pomona College. Over the course of this two-year postdoctoral fellowship, I will teach one course per semester while revising my dissertation into a book manuscript. I already feel the warmth of the Claremont community (and not just because it is 90-100 degrees here!), and am beyond excited to work with the remarkable students of Pomona and the rest of the 5Cs.
