I am elated to share that I have been selected as part of the inaugural cohort of the Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Innovation Fellowship, a unique national fellowship between the Mellon Foundation and the American Council of Learned Societies that supports research in innovative directions at the early stages of the dissertation. My project, “Con ăn cơm chưa? Refugee Lessons on Feeding and Care in the Vietnamese Diaspora,” will explore intergenerational approaches to a politics of care with a focus on food and feeding. You can read more about it at my fellow profile page and this fabulous press release wrote up by the UC Berkeley Division of Arts & Humanities: Department of French Doctoral Candidate Alan Yeh Selected as 2023 Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Innovation Fellow.
This fellowship support will be instrumental for developing my dissertation project as I begin collaborating with local community organization Oakland Bloom and delve into archival research in France for the first time over the next year.
